Earlier this year, Darby Pop Publishing held a contest looking for unpublished comics talent, writers and artists, to produce 4-page stories featuring female characters from any book in Darby’s catalog. The winning entries will be published today in the Women of Darby Pop special, and three of the finalists chose to write stories based on my Fake Empire.
The stories are “My Sister’s Keeper,” by Andre Mateus and Kate Davis, “Ride Along,” by Matthew Cody and Kenya Washington, and “The Fairy Queen,” by Forrest Helvie and Nikkol Jelenic. I had the privilege of reading the stories early and really enjoyed them. It’s a strange honor to see others wanting to play in your sandbox, and I’m told more contest entries were based on Fake Empire than any other Darby Pop book.
Women of Darby Pop is $3.99 for 44 pages of content. Check it out.
Speaking of Fake Empire, the digital collected edition is now available on comiXology, and you can still get the print collection at Amazon, Barnes & Noble or from finer comics stores.
